aking meter marks, suspending ceilings, and levelling doors, windows as well as built-in components can be less time-consuming, thanks to the new Hilti PML 32 line laser.
The PML 32 line laser – which includes the functionalities of a bubble level, chalk line and a plumb bob – enables measuring tasks to be carried out much more accurately and, more importantly, with greater efficiency, claims Hilti, a Liechtenstein-based construction tools manufacturer.
“Routine measuring tasks – until now – had to be carried out with conventional tools and used to keep a pair of people busy for a long time in the past,” a spokesman for the company says. “In buildings and up to a distance of about 10 m, the PML 32 line laser replaces conventional measuring devices. Professional interior finishers, mechanical installers and electricians can now tackle such tasks in far less time with the easy-to-use Hilti line laser.”
The PML 32 makes it possible for one person to carry out necessary aligning work very quickly. Generally, the line laser - once in a position - provides a reliable reference point for any alignment work. Practical accessories like a telescopic brace, wall mount or pipe adaptor simplify working with this practical Hilti line laser even more, he says.
“The convenient PML 32 line laser, like all Hilti tools, is easy to operate as horizontal and vertical laser lines can be projected together or singly, at the touch of a button. The result is extra-long horizontal or vertical reference lines anywhere in a room, thanks to its 120-degree aperture/fan angle. In practical terms, there is a 10-m-long clearly visible line on a wall or from floor to ceiling if the line laser is set up at 3 m from the wall,” explains the spokesman.
The Hilti PML 32 line laser does away with measuring mistakes that could otherwise prove to be expensive. The line laser levels itself up at an angle of +/– 5 degrees, and if the tool lies outside this self-levelling range, the laser lines blink as a warning. This mechanism ensures reliable measuring results within +/– 1.5 mm over a line length of 10 m, he adds.
The spokesman continues: “This small-format precision tool is specially protected. Closing the tool locks its pendulum for safe transportation. With a typical Hilti design, the housing is extremely robust to cope with the rough daily conditions on construction sites. It is here too, that the wide range of accessories makes the Hilti PML 32 line laser so versatile.
“Up to a height of 2.80 m anywhere in a room, the line laser can be secured with the PUA 10 telescopic brace. A wall mount, an adaptor to fasten the line laser on pipes, a frame clamp for quick mounting to door frames and a new crank tripod ensure that the Hilti PML 32 line laser can be easily set up for rapid alignment work virtually anywhere.”
Tile laying
Tiles can be levelled and aligned quickly and precisely along horizontal or vertical laser lines, thereby eliminating the need to use a chalk line or a bubble level. To do so, the line laser is secured to the PUA 10 telescopic brace and set up at the required height. At a distance of 3 m from a wall, the Hilti PML 32 line laser projects a 10-m long, clearly visible reference line. Tiles can then be laid extremely accurately along this precise laser line.
Electrical installations
Aligning plug receptacles/sockets or light switches at the same height, is a task carried out easily and very quickly with the Hilti PML 32. For this work, the line laser is set up at the desired height using the telescopic brace or wall mount. The laser line is a precise and reliable reference point, enabling installations to be fitted rapidly without the usual time-consuming (and laborious) marking-out.
Installers
The PML 32 generates clearly visible laser lines that facilitate the rapid alignment and levelling of pipes. As a result of the wide aperture/fan angle of the laser, this reference line runs perfectly vertical from the floor across the wall and to the ceiling. This makes the alignment of pipe fasteners much easier as the fastening can be made directly along the line. The laser itself can be turned vertically through an angle of up to 160 degrees into any position – a feature that is ideal for bringing pipe hangers into line on a ceiling, he says.
