Riyadh Land wins new investment

KINGDOM Holding Company (KHC) has signed a second land sale deal with Jeddah-based Subul Development for a plot at Kingdom Riyadh Land, a 16-million-sq-m mixed-use development located east of capital Riyadh.

Meanwhile, infrastructure work is expected begin shortly on Kingdom Oasis Riyadh Land on the Riyadh-Dammam Highway, which is part of the Kingdom Riyadh Land project. Among other developments, the preliminary masterplan for the 3.8-million-sq-m Kingdom Oasis Riyadh Land, a residential development on the eastern side of the project, was submitted to Riyadh Municipality. Hart Howerton (HH), which is responsible for the masterplan of this area, is now fine-tuning it in accordance with the recommendations of the municipality. HH’s scope of work includes producing concept architectural studies for a hotel, women’s spa and branded villas.

 

UCC receives key certification

URBACON Trading and Contracting (UCC), a leading Qatari construction company, has received the ISO 14001:2004 for complying with environmental management standards; and Ohsas 18001:2007 certification for conforming to occupational health and safety standards. To become certified as ISO 14001:2004 and Ohsas 18001:2007 compliant, UCC underwent a thorough evaluation process that included development of a formal health, safety and environment (HSE) management system, maintaining and implementing management systems. Both these certificates are certified by SGS, a leading global certification company.

 

Renesola wins first Mideast contract

RENESOLA, a leading global manufacturer of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and wafers, has been awarded its first contract in the Middle East by Taibah University in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to provide 15 kW of solar modules to be used in an off-grid power plant project to test off-grid solutions. The company’s solar modules are expected to arrive in Madinah early this year and will be used to charge the plant’s battery.

 

Famco buoyed by Saudi success

FAMCO (Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company) has grown from strength to strength across Saudi Arabia in the last 12 months and in line with the region’s sustained economic growth, according to Paul Floyd, the managing director of Famco. Floyd’s comments came during his visit to Saudi Arabia last month to mark the first anniversary of Famco’s acquisition of the local Al Rehab Equipment & Machinery Company.

Famco is a distributor of leading industrial and construction brands in the GCC such as Volvo Trucks and Volvo Buses in the UAE, Volvo Construction Equipment in Saudi Arabia and  the UAE, as well as Merlo telehandlers, Linde equipment, Dexion storage systems, Ingersoll Rand air compressors and tools, Yanmar power products and Himoinsa generators.

 

CNH appoints new EMEA chief 

CNH has appointed Mario Gasparri as head of the CNH Construction Equipment business in the Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) region.

This is in addition to his role of brand president of Case Construction and New Holland Construction announced last November as part of the Fiat Industrial new organisation. Gasparri served as general manager of CNH International since September 2010, holding responsibility for CNH’s agricultural and construction brands in Africa, the Middle East, CIS, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He has held various roles in Fiat companies for the past 24 years, including the positions of managing director of New Holland India and Asia Pacific and vice-president of agricultural equipment commercial operations, CNH International.

 

Peri announces new Qatar boss

PERI, a leading German formwork and scaffolding system manufacturer, has appointed Craig Barkley as managing director for its Qatar subsidiary.

Barkley began his career in 1982, working in Waco International’s South African and US engineering departments. In 1997 he joined Peri’s South African distributor, where he became sales and marketing director before joining Peri as regional manager for South East Asia in 2008.
