The Water Garden City concept.

A multi-million-dollar city that aims to offer the best that its very name embodies – water, garden and city – has been quietly emerging in the bustling Seef District of Bahrain.

The Water Garden City – a mixed-use development that will eventually boast a marina, beach, gardens, a promenade with waterfront fine dining restaurants, luxury duplexes, apartments, hotels, and offices – has seen its first building, a residential tower, completed and now occupied, while other elements of the landmark project are in various stages of completion.

The integrated lifestyle community is predominately residential with a range of services that include leisure and retail facilities, restaurants, hotels and offices. Marking the gateway to the city will be two iconic towers that rise above this new district.

“Albilad’s vision for the Water Garden City is to create a city centre retreat where residents can live, work, relax and enjoy leisure time,” Zeyad Janahi, general manager for Albilad Real Estate Investment Company tells Gulf Construction.

The project comprises three separate precincts identified by their distinct themes, landscaping styles and building materials, offering residents and visitors different lifestyles. Every precinct is further divided into nine neighbourhoods, each with its own distinct appeal and key community features.

The project has seen significant progress with reclamation works and infrastructure including electrical power and water networks already in place.  “Asphalting works have been completed for the project’s proposed roads, and streetlighting and the community public garden areas are at an advanced stage of progress,” says Janahi.

In addition, the promenade dining strip buildings and the sky garden villas are in the final stages of interior décor works and will be ready for viewing by prospective tenants for the retail and restaurants units from Q1 2017, he says.

Albilad Real Estate is now looking forward to the launch of construction works on the Marriott Residence Inn during the first half of 2017.

The project is being spearheaded by a strong in-house team at Albilad, which has engaged international architect and masterplanner HOK to create a place of regional significance that offers a combination of ideal location, real estate value and amenities.

As the master community developer, Albilad aims to deliver products and services of unrivalled quality and value to its investors, the spokesman adds.

Owned by a number of local and regional investors, Albilad Real Estate Investment Company offers services and expertise in management and concept evaluation, planning and development, design, construction and maintenance of real estate properties in Bahrain and the region.
