AL KOBAISI General Trading Company (Al Kobaisi Group) is returning to this year’s gulfBID armed with a rich portfolio of innovative products that it intends to launch on the Bahrain market to facilitate construction processes.

The Bahrain-based group’s managing director Abdulla Al Kobaisi says the company’s participation in last year’s exhibition helped it showcase all its products and services. “The show positively took us on the road to further growth in the field of construction. We also signed a few deals,” he comments.

At the event this year, the company will promote additional products and technologies that are designed to meet customer demand and provide new, affordable construction techniques. In the limelight will be its state-of-the-art Kobaisi Building System (KBS), a patented building system developed by Al Kobaisi with the help of a leading German precast equipment manufacturer.

“This incomparable system is actively providing developers and builders a cost-cutting, time-saving and affordable housing and construction system,” says Al Kobaisi.

In response to customer demand, Al Kobaisi will introduce illbruck PU700, the first polyurethane (PU) foam adhesive of its kind to be launched in Bahrain. “The rapid-curing adhesive has been developed specifically for the installation of brick, stone, blocks and a range of other construction materials that replaces the traditional mortar application,” he says.

Another innovative product is Geoplast’s line of Geotub formwork, a comprehensive casing system for concrete casting circular columns and square or rectangular pillars in both civil and industrial applications. Reusable, the product is made of high-strength ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), and offers benefits such as lightweight, rapid assembly, easy storage and good surface finish of the concrete.

Al Kobaisi will also promote new portable boundary walls and ornamental products as per customer requirements. “These walls are ideal for construction projects such as site hoardings. Being portable, they can be relocated anywhere and anytime; can be erected quickly and easily; are weather-resistant and relatively low in cost,” he says.

GulfBID will also provide the group with the opportunity to promote its rental business offered through Al Kobaisi Equipment Rental. Al Kobaisi says a wide range of the latest vehicles and machinery will be available for daily and monthly rentals, at the best prices, and backed by excellent service, 24/7 technical support, and high trained drivers and operators.

Commenting on the show, he says: “The annual expo for construction is renowned among the construction fraternity and is recognised across the GCC. This event enables us to showcase our products and services as well as the new developments within our company.”

A fully-owned Bahraini company established since 1972, Al Kobaisi Group is a client-focused, service-oriented firm engaged in a wide variety of activities, namely construction; real estate; manufacture of concrete products such as readymix concrete, blocks and related products and precast elements; cement trading; carpentry and joinery, aluminium and glass fabrication; sand and aggregate washing; vehicles, machines and equipment sales and rental; and maintenance; among other activities. The head office of the group is in the Hidd Industrial Area.

The group has in-depth knowledge and experience related to construction and building materials production and is well-equipped to build affordable housing and is well aware of client requirements.

“We specialise in building materials manufacturing, having all products under one roof. We strive to be the best in every activity by focusing on effectiveness, competency, responsiveness and affordability. Our pledge is to ensure client satisfaction and constructive contribution to our community through our work and accomplishments,” says Al Kobaisi.

Commenting on business, he says the Bahrain market is showing positivity, which is reflected in the company’s main line of business, which is construction.

The company has also seen significant developments recently. Its raw material facilities have been upgraded to facilitate efficient and economic production; while its quality control and assurance procedures have been made more stringent and backed by laboratory test reports. In addition, Al Kobaisi’s logistic facilities have also been enhanced through the purchase of new cranes, trailers and other heavy vehicles; and its mechanical workshop has been revamped to streamline procedures.

Despite its measurable achievements, Al Kobaisi does not rest on its laurels but has charted its future growth strategy which entails expansion of its production capacity, including doubling precast production; completion of a new block factory and a readymix tower plant as well as a marine jetty for the supply of marine sand to its washing plant; and procuring aluminium and glass fabrication machines. It also intends to introduce the first drymix mortar of its kind in Bahrain, which will be “a perfect solution to save time, ensure consistent quality and environment-friendliness and reduce cost”, says Al Kobaisi.

Al Kobaisi has supplied to numerous projects throughout Bahrain, its latest being the King Hamad University Hospital radiopharmaceutical production and molecular imaging centre (cyclotron project), which is expected to be handed over by the end of next month (May).
