Tenders due for Oman resort

Tenders for Package 2 of the Barr Al Jissah resort are due to be out in November. The package calls for the substructure works for the three hotels planned at the estimated $200 million project.

The Town Hotel, a 200-room five-star hotel, will be sited along the main beach area. It will its own spa and apartments. The other two hotels are the Castle Hotel and Village Hotel. The Castle Hotel is to be situated on the distinctive buff overlooking the sea on three sides and also the remainder of the resort. The five-star-plus hotel will have its own private beach with 173 rooms set in a landscaped area.

The four-star 301-room Village Hotel will be on the east end of the resort and cater to families and younger couples.

The Barr Al Jissah resort is being developed by the local Zubair Corporation and will be managed by the Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts Group. The project is expected to open by 2005.
