
Four Seasons plans Jumeirah resort
FOUR Seasons Hotels and Resorts, in collaboration with UAE-based holding company Bright Start, said it is planning a resort property in the heart of Jumeirah Beach in Dubai.
Located on a prime 11-acre waterfront site with convenient access to the main commercial district on Sheikh Zayed Road, Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach will have 237 rooms, including 49 suites.
Bright Start is developing the new resort property and has appointed H&H Investment and Development as the development manager. It will be designed by world-renowned architect WATG, with interior design by San Fransisco-based Bamo. The resort is expected to open by mid-2014.
RW Armstrong marks safety record
RW ARMSTRONG, a global architecture and engineering consulting firm, said it has achieved 10 million man-hours without lost time injury (LTI) on the construction of Masdar Institute of Science & Technology’s second phase – Phase 1B – marking a major health and safety milestone. Main contractor Arabian Construction Company (ACC) realised excellent results in safeguarding health and safety measures for the approximately 3,400 labourers working on site, it said.
The company is the lead consultant, architect of record and design manager for the Masdar Institute which was designed by Foster + Partners and is managed by real estate developer Aldar.
Work on Phase1B is due of completion in September. It will include more than 200 student apartments, four open laboratories, a multi-use hall conference facility, a swimming pool and a gymnasium.
Damac project wins Meed award
DAMAC Properties, along with Arabtec Construction, has won another prestigious property award for Ocean Heights, its landmark high-rise in Dubai Marina, in Dubai.
Ocean Heights won the ‘Meed Emirates Steel GCC Building Project of The Year 2012’, making it the 13th industry award that Damac Properties has won in the past six months. The Meed GCC Building Projects Awards 2012 are part of a programme designed to recognise excellence in project delivery in the GCC, and to promote high standards in the project supply chain.
Lumiglass wins Ukas approval
LUMIGLASS Industries has won international recognition for its improved bullet-resistant product-line.
A component of Glass, a leading processor of laminated safety glass in the Middle East and a subsidiary of Dubai Investments, Lumiglass received the official standards certification from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (Ukas), which now validates the company’s strategic initiative to provide bespoke solutions for the security and defence industry.
