HYDER Consulting, the multi-national advisory and design consultancy, has won two BEIA awards – one for its work on Burj Dubai and the other in recognition of the outstanding contribution to the civil engineering industry by a young Hyder consultant.

The company won Innovation of the Year Award for its role in the construction of Burj Dubai. Emaar Properties initially commissioned Hyder to design the tower’s foundations. Following the original design by SOM, Hyder’s role expanded to ‘Engineer and Architect of Record’ for the tower, and ‘Design Adoption Consultant’ responsible for structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) and façade services.

Robert Baker, Hyder’s 29-year-old highways and infrastructure function manager based in Manila, won the Young Consultant of the Year 2009/10. Hyder received the accolades at a ceremony in London on November 11.
