ADEX Contracting, Maintenance and Operation, which has seen a significant growth in business in Saudi Arabia’s upbeat construction sector over the past year, has set its sights on the hospitality sector.
The company, which specialises in fast-track and turnkey projects, is now developing its own property with an international hospitality brand, while taking on the role of the main contractor on the project.
“We are adopting the backward integration strategy,” says Viqar Hasan, the CEO of Adex.
Adex is actively engaged in a number of sectors including property development, hospitality, contracting, maintenance and operation.
Hasan says the building construction industry in Saudi Arabia has witnessed unprecedented growth with several construction contracts having been awarded recently. Prospects for growth in the construction and hospitality sectors are very bright indeed,” he emphasises.
“The construction market in Saudi Arabia is surging forward, with many projects having been announced in all sectors and with the six economic cities being developed across the kingdom. The construction industry in the kingdom is now demonstrating the best international level of expertise and benefiting from technology transfer,” he adds.
The buoyancy in the Saudi market is well reflected in the company’s extensive list of ongoing and completed projects where Adex is serving as the main contractor. Among the most prominent projects is the Faisalya Compound in Riyadh for Dallah Real Estate.

This prestigious development includes 269 high-end residential villas with a five-star hotel, fitness centres, tennis courts, a mall, mosques, spas and clubhouses over an approximate area of 45,000 sq m. The project is set for completion on July next year.
Another key project in the hospitality sector is the Rosewood Hotel Resort and Spa in Riyadh, a five-star hotel and resort with 155 keys and 10 villas, and amenities such as a banquet hall, specialty restaurant, spa and swimming pool, and kids and children club. The project for Al Faisalya Resort and Spa is slated for completion in February next year.
This apart, Adex is developing as well as constructing two hotel projects – one in Riyadh and the other in Tabuk.
The five-star hotel project in Riyadh will be housed in a tower that bears its name – Adex Tower – which is being built on Olaya Street and is scheduled for completion in June next year. The hotel features 238 rooms, two ballrooms, a swimming pool, gymnasium, and a specialty restaurant with all-day dining.
In Tabuk, Adex is both the client and main contractor on the Star Hotel, which will have 103 guestrooms, food and beverage facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, café, three meeting rooms, and a gymnasium and swimming pool. The project will be completed in November next year.
This apart, Adex is also the owner of a 16-storey commercial tower – also known as Adex Tower – on Madinah Road in Jeddah, which was also built by the company.
Adex is a 100 per cent Saudi-owned firm, which has been active in all aspects of the contracting business in the kingdom since its establishment in Riyadh in December 2005. Rated among the Top 100 contractors, Adex has more than 100 projects to its credit including commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, religious and housing complexes, hospitals, palaces, villas, commercial towers and other civil projects.
Classified as a Grade A contractor, the company also carries out mechanical and electrical (M&E) and sub-contracting work, repair and refurbishment fit-outs, and interior decor and furnishing, according to Hasan.
“The key to our success is our commitment to quality, our continuous investment and training in the newest technology and our focus on cultural values and craftsmanship. By benchmarking our operations with internationally-accepted standards of quality, we have managed not only to expand and diversify our business, but also to maintain an exceptionally high level of quality throughout our projects,” he says.
Adex employs a staff of 2,366 people and has offices and facilities in Riyadh, Jeddah and Tabuk, where it has warehouses that spread over an area of 20,000 sq m, 20,000 sq m and 10,000 sq m, respectively.
