ALTHOUGH a relative newcomer on the market, resilient and sport flooring specialist Tasco has already chalked up dozens of project references in Saudi Arabia where it has proved its mettle.

One such recent project was the Princess Nora University (PNU) in Riyadh, which called for more than 40,000 sq m of specialty finishes for sport floors and walls and accessories for the gymnasiums. This was in addition to the raised floors used for the train stations and control rooms.

The project was carried out for Saudi Binladin Group.

For the PNU project, the products were procured from major sports flooring manufacturers from the US, Italy and Canada. These included Robbins’ Bio-channel Classic (1,300 sq m) and Sportwood Ultra (372 sq m), Mondo’s Advance Rubber (2,722 sq m) and Sportflex (1,004 sq m), and Mats Inc’s Mixology (694 sq m) for the Students Recreation Centre.

For each of the male and female faculty sports recreational centres, Tasco installed Bio-channel Classic (1,525 sq m), Sportwood Ultra (238 sq m), Sportflex (621 sq m) and Mats Inc’s Panorama (388 sq m).

For each of the boys and girls kindergartens and schools, Tasco provided Robbin’s Sportwood Ultra (296 sq m), Strata 9+2 (1,918 sq m), Strata 5+1.5 (356 sq m) and Galaxy I-lock Tiles (636 sq m).

About 1,300 draper safety pads were installed by the company at all sports centres. In addition, 7,300 sq m of raised access floors at all monorail stations and at the depot building, and raised floor for the train at PNU, have also been provided, he says.

Other major projects that Tasco is currently working on are the King Saud Abdulaziz University campuses in Jeddah, Al Ahsa and Riyadh. The scope of work consists of supply and installation of 21,264 sq m of rubber flooring, 6,000 sq m of Robbins Bio-channel Classic, and 600 sq m of Robbins Sportwood Ultra.

It is also involved in the installation of specialty vinyl over an area of 1,831 sq m at Saudi Aramco’s Oncology Treatment Centre in Dhahran.

Among the projects it has completed are educational facilities such as King Abdullah University of Science and Technology near Jeddah, the French School in Al Khobar; and a girls college in Al Ahsa.

In addition, it was also involved in the Rehabilitation Centre at Qatif for the Ministry of Health; South Riyadh Hospital in Riyadh; and Laith Clinic in Al Khobar.
