SIX stunning modern water features are being created at Egypt’s Cairo Festival City, a new world-class lifestyle resort, owned and developed by Al Futtaim Group that includes apartments, offices, retail, entertainment, schools and hospitality.
The water features will be located across the 3-million-sq-m project at the city’s main entrances and neighbourhood roundabouts. Each fountain will be individually animated, producing stunning shows and patterns with water and light.
Renowned water feature design studio Fluidity, conceived the design for the fountains, and Crystal, a world leader in water feature technology, is providing the equipment for these state-of- the-art features.
Crystal is providing hundreds of LED lights, 12 aerator jets, 36 foam jets, 17 custom plume nozzles and ChoreoSwitch sequencing devices. The fountains will also feature Crystal’s custom-developed “Titan” jet effect, “monumental geysers” where water is shot 25 m into the air and creates undulant arches that change their shape and height. LED lighting will also ensure there are theatrical water and light shows at night.
Jim Garland, founder of Fluidity Design commented: “Cairo Festival City is an important commission for our studio. It deepens our relationship with Al Futtaim Real Estate Group, one of our first clients. It is our hope these fountains will be sincerely enjoyed by visitors and residents of Cairo alike.”
Paul L’ Heureux of Crystal said: “The Cairo Festival City water features are a significant part of Al Futtaim Group’s master plan, with the fountains at the main entrances welcoming the city’s residents and visitors with spectacular water displays. When completed, the six fountains will be among the best in the world.”
Cairo Festival City is expected to be completed next year (2013).
