Saudi Arabia

Powering ahead

Well done ... a certificate of appreciation from Aramco.

SAUDI Electric Industries Company (Seico), which has been breaking new ground in product design and development since its establishment in 1990, has implemented expansion programmes over the past two years that have positioned it among the largest producers of electrical systems and accessories in the region.

The ISO-certified vendor – which deals in cable ladders and cable trays, supporting profiles and accessories, cable glands, lightning protection systems and earthing protection systems – covers the requirements of an extensive Gulfwide market, although its primary market remains Saudi Arabia. It has supplied these products to major petrochemical and power projects in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain.
Among its clients are leading names in the hydrocarbons and petrochemical sectors including Aramco, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), Qatar Petroleum, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) and Kuwait Petroleum.
“Our dedication to providing quality products and services has earned us the support of our clients,” says a spokesman for the company. “Seico has established an enviable reputation for quality, and is committed to maintaining high standards.”
Seico sees excellent prospects for its field of specialisation, given the large number of power projects under way to meet the growing demand for electricity in view of the rapid industrialisation and increasing population in the region. Another important sector is oil and gas, which is accorded high priority in the region.
The company isn’t too concerned about the global downturn. “The global credit crunch will definitely affect us, but only for a short time. Some projects may be delayed but we have enough business in the power and other sectors to overcome this,” the spokesman confirms.
Seico’s facilities are equipped with the latest technology and are supported by a testing laboratory that covers all stages of production. In addition, its products are tested and certified by independent authorities to ensure their compliance with international standards. Seico is well staffed with an engineering team specialised in production and quality control.
The company also maintains close ties with its wide chain of suppliers to ensure that it procures good quality materials.
Seico has been involved in the building of a number of major projects in Saudi Arabia and has received a certificate of appreciation from Aramco. Some of its recent projects are: Khursaniya project carried out by Technip Italy/Bechtel; Rabigh project (for contractor Foster Wheeler) which is being developed by PetroRabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company/Saudi Aramco; and Saudi Kayan cracker, EO/EG facility, olefins complex as well as PP and PH projects.
Seico has also been involved in several landmark projects recently in the GCC such as a Sohar project carried out by Larsen and Toubro in Oman; Asab Gas Development and Habshan Gas Complex expansion project by Eastern Bechtel Company for Gasco, UAE; Dubai Metro for contractor Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Company; and Borouge Two by Tecnimont for JVB Adnoc and Borealis UAE.
