Saudi Arabia

Rewarding union

A TOTAL of 33 cranes from Germany’s Wolffkran will shortly be arriving in Saudi Arabia to help construct the highly prestigious Princess Noura University for Girls in Riyadh.

The pack of red Wolff cranes – model 7532 – has been ordered by Roots Group, a leading Saudi-based trader in building materials and industrial supplies, which has just signed up to take over sales, rental and full consultancy services for the German giant’s Wolff cranes for Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt.
The delivery of the model 7532 Wolff cranes with trolley jib is now in progress, with two units having already been shipped to Saudi Arabia.
“Our focus over the last years on Saudi Arabia has paid off. We are proud to win Roots Group as our business partner and we are looking forward to a successful and long-lasting cooperation,” says Dietrich Sell, director international sales and Wolffkran representative for Saudi Arabia.
Wolffkran is one of the world’s leading suppliers of tower cranes for large building sites. The German manufacturer has cleverly designed all components to be compatible across its range, regardless of whether they are luffing or hammerhead-type cranes. The increased freestanding heights of Wolff cranes are a particularly relevant benefit for Arabian construction sites.
“We believe that the quality and performance of these German engineered cranes will be found to be simply the best in the industry,” says Marwan Ghalayini, division manager at Roots Group.
In the next few months, Roots Group will establish a Wolffkran division supported by a full-fledged team, right from general manager to service staff that will be responsible for marketing and service locally. The team will be supported by an operations manager directly from Wolffkran. This apart, a fleet of cranes for hire will be equipped in the next months.
“We are ready to conquer new Arabian territories,” says Dr Peter Schiefer, CEO and joint owner of Wolffkran. “The joint venture between Wolffkran and Kanoo Group in Dubai has proved to be immensely successful. With Roots Group, we have now found the right business partner to continue our Arabian success story.”
Wolffkran, which has its headquarters in Zug (Switzerland) and manufacturing sites in Heilbronn and Luckau (Germany), registered a turnover of around €100 million ($130 million) last year.
