LIEBHERR, the German heavy machinery company which has maintained an active presence in Saudi Arabia for more than 30 years, continues to supply top-quality civil engineering and construction equipment to all parts of the kingdom right from Jeddah to Al Khobar.
Its extensive portfolio includes construction cranes, mobile cranes, crawler cranes, hydraulic excavators and heavy-duty crawler cranes, wheel loaders, crawler tractors and loaders, pipe layers, telescopic handlers, mining trucks, concrete mixing plants and truck mixers.
“All the company’s products are engineered to the highest technical standards and to a quality that ensures long service and maximum benefit to the customer,” says a spokesman for Liebherr.
The company’s operation in the kingdom known as Saudi Liebherr Company (Saudi Liebherr) is a joint venture with the Juffali Group. With its head office in Jeddah and branches in Dammam and Riyadh, Saudi Liebherr has built an efficient network to deliver spares on demand from stock and established comprehensive service and workshop facilities. It has also set up a unit to produce truck-mounted mixers.
“Our aim is to provide support tailored to each customer’s unique needs and through one-on-one exchange of ideas to develop solutions that enable us to grow together,” the spokesman says.
Among its most recent successes is a deal to deliver six new Megamax ship-to-shore cranes to the Jeddah North Container Terminal in Saudi Arabia for Gulf Stevedoring Contracting Company. In addition to the cranes, Gulf Stevedoring also ordered 10 rubber-tyre gantry cranes for the terminal.
The Liebherr Megamax ship-to-shore cranes have a span of 30 m, waterside outreach of 60 m and a landslide backreach of 16 m. The height under spreader is 41 m, while safe working load is 65 tonnes under twin left spreader and 75 tonnes under hookbeam. The stack height of the cranes is over five containers, and the safe working load is 65 tonnes under twinlift spreader. The company says the Megamax ship-to-shore cranes and rubber-tyred gantry cranes will be delivered to Gulf Stevedoring by the year-end.
Another major project that Saudi Liebherr supplied to is the Al Abniah Precast Concrete Factory, which is set to launch operations in Al Khobar shortly. For the project, the company provided concrete mixing plant.
Liebherr, with more than 50 years experience, has gained recognition for its products throughout the world. The company offers an innovative range of concrete mixing plants, which includes compact container systems, stationary plants in horizontal or vertical designs, as well as mobile plants. It also produces mixing plants for large-scale projects requiring up to 700 cu m output an hour, such as dam construction.
“Liebherr-designed mixer systems and state-of-the-art controls integrated in the Liebherr mixing plants ensure the production of top-quality concrete to fulfil the demands and requirements of customers worldwide. These plants are, therefore, also often used in the concrete products and precast industries,” says the spokesman.
He continues: “Both Betomat-type tower plants as well as Betomix or Compactmix-type horizontal plants can be annexed directly to existing production halls of the precast concrete industry. It is also possible to connect directly onto bucket transport systems with integration in the Liebherr control system. Up to three mixer systems can be installed in the Combimix configuration as was undertaken for Alabniah to ensure that all mixing requirements were met.”
Liebherr’s products and services enjoy an excellent worldwide reputation. Its self-designed mixer systems are durable and are of the highest quality. The ring-pan mixers with agitator system in particular are ideal for the manufacture of concrete products, the spokesman says.
“The agitator system featured in all Liebherr ring-pan mixers has been proven time and again over many years. Liebherr offers a first-class service all over the world and manufactures about 300 concrete mixing plants each year, making it one of the largest and most successful manufacturers in the field,” he adds.
Liebherr International is based in Bulle, Switzerland, and employs more than 16,000 people.
