The UK's Flowcrete has won a contract to install 140,000 sq m of its Isocrete K-Screed at the towers at Dubai Marina.
The 40-storey towers, being developed by Emaar, are the first residential towers on the coastal marina development.
The contract will take nine months to complete and involves installing Isocrete K-Screed at 38 mm onto Isocrete Polymer 70. In the bathrooms and kitchens, M Bond Extra is being used to provide a dampproof membrane.
The company said the contract marked Flowcrete's growing position as a premier screed supplier in the Middle East, and highlights the success or its joint venture with RMC Topmix to distribute the product across the region.
"We are delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious contract," chairman Dawn Gibbins said from the company's headquarters in Cheshire, UK.
"The major benefit of Isocrete K-Screed is minimal shrinkage, cracking and curling, thereby significantly reducing floor screed failure prior to the application of floor finishes.
"Isocrete K-Screed can be applied at a far thinner level than traditional sand and cement screeds, which also means significant structural weight savings on multi-storey buildings."
For more than 30 years, Isocrete K-Screed has been used across the globe, and project references include Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur International Airport as well as Heathrow and Gatwick in the UK.
Isocrete K-Screed has come to the Gulf region under a joint partnership between Flowcrete Middle East - whose office is based in Jebel Ali, Dubai, and concrete ready-mix company RMC Topmix, also in Dubai.
Recent projects in Dubai include the installation of 1,500 sq m of Isocrete K-Screed on the floor and steps of all seven auditoriums within a new cinema complex, built in the prestigious Sharjah Mega Mall in Sharjah.
