
A new Dh24 million ($6.5 million) police headquarters has been completed and will be handed over to a special committee set up by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
The four-storey building will accommodate all police units and sections. Police chief Brigadier-General Shaikh Talib bin Saqr A1 Qasimi said the move to the new premises will be made early next year.
Meanwhile, a separate building on the premises will house the main stores of the police department, as well as the transport offices.
A services building, a landing field for helicopters, a mosque to accommodate 1,500 people, and a guard room near the entrance make up the headquarters.
43 new high-rises coming up
Sharjah: Sharjah City, which is witnessing a construction boom in new residential areas, will see 43 new high-rise buildings in less than a year, a local report said.
Engineer Rashid Omran Al Owais, head of the technical department, was quoted as saying that the 43 new high-rise buildings comprised health and gymnasium centres and parking facilities.
He said the department had issued 310 construction licences including 109 residential units and 22 mosques and other constructions, and 84 for extensions at existing premises.
AVK valves 'used in key projects'
Muscat: Valves made by AVK International are finding use in key projects in Oman, local distributor Al-Mutawaa company has said.
AVK products are approved in Oman by various ministries including the Ministry of Housing, Electricity and Water, it added.
AVK, which has been making valves for water, gas, sewage and fire-fighting for three decades now, has factories in Denmark, the UK, the Netherlands, US and Saudi Arabia.
Mannai names new manager
Doha: Mannai Corporation has named Robert Wakim as assistant general manager of its direct sales and projects division.
Wakim, 30, was most recently regional manager for the leading Belgian industrial equipment trading firm based at the Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone near Dubai.
Work on school nears end
Manama: Work on a new secondary girls school at Sitra in Bahrain is expected to finish in May next year. The BD1.14 million ($3 million) Education Ministry school will include administration offices, classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, storage rooms and other facilities.
