Dubai's Noor Al Maarif is the first school in the UAE to be connected to the Tabreed cooling network, it was announced.

Noor Al Maarif is being showcased by Dubai Municipality as the school of the future for its design, use of space and technology.

Officials said owners of the Noor Al Maarif school's state-of-the-art new premises, which is currently being constructed on Shaikh Zayed Road, had turned to Tabreed, the National Central Cooling Company (PJSC), to ensure that cooling of the school is in line with its award winning design.

Chilled water will be piped 3 km to the new school from Tabreed's cooling facility on Shaikh Zayed Road, which currently has contracts to provide cooling to a variety of commercial and residential properties in Dubai.

Svilen Nickola Todorov, managing director of Greenstyle Architecture, designed the new school and is familiar with district cooling from his experience of construction around the world.
