Dubai's Department of Civil Aviation has invited prequalification submissions for a number of packages as part of the $2.5 billion Phase II expansion of Dubai International Airport.

The expansion involves the construction of Terminal 3, and Concourse 2 and 3, a mega cargo facility and a car-park, among other works.

These packages include the design, supply, installation and commissioning of the following:

  • Security screening equipment (PQ16). The closing date for the tender is June 6;

  • Airport signage systems (PQ17). The closing date is July 31;

  • Automated people mover (APM) systems (PQ18). The APM system will facilitate passenger flow between Concourse 2/Terminal 3 and Concourse 3. Two separate APM systems are envisaged and will be located in an underground tunnel. The closing date is July 31;

  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for Concourse 2 covering 430,000 sq m and to underground terminal 3 of 350,000 sq m floor area (PQ19). The closing date is August 31; and

  • Material handling systems for flower centre (PQ 20) - closing date: June 30.

    The Department of Civil Aviation has also invited tenders for the construction of a crisis centre (PQ21). The closing date is June 15.

    Works include the design and specification for the development of an 84,000 sq m site forming part of the airport.

    The centre will be fully equipped to provide incident and crisis management with advanced communications to enhance aviation security, supply emergency service dispatch to police, fire, ambulance and aviation security units.

    The closing date is June 15.
