Emirates Glass for Burj Residence
Dubai: Emirates Glass, a leading supplier of premium architectural glass products, is well-advanced with a landmark order to supply a total of 66,000 sq m of its Emicool glass for the Burj Residence projects in Dubai.

The company has already supplied 30,000 sq m of EmiCool Sun NN46 Green glass for Burj Residence Phase 1 and 16,000 sq m of EmiCool Sun NN50 Blue Green glass for Phase 2.  Emirates Glass is now supplying 20,000 sq m of its EmicoolSun NN60 Grey glass to Burj Residence Phase 3, which is expected to be completed sometime during late summer this year.

ETA Star awards contracts
Dubai: ETA Star, a major freehold property developer in the region, has awarded contracts worth Dh30 million ($8.16 million) for enabling foundation works for two of its premier projects – The Centrium in the International Media Production Zone (IMPZ) and Al Manara, located at Business Bay. The contracts were awarded to Dutch Foundation.

Fortune Tower work finishing
Dubai: Fortune Group, a leading Dubai-based real estate development company, has announced that its first project, Fortune Tower, a freehold commercial tower located at the Jumeirah Lake Towers, is nearing completion.
Located at Jumeirah Lake Towers, the 35-storey, Dh170 million ($46.28 million) landmark project offers 450,000 sq ft of prime office space across 254 office units.

Bridge coating project progresses
Abu Dhabi: Fameco General Contracting Company, Abu Dhabi, which won a Dh4.5 million ($1.22 million) coating contract in January 2006 for the bridge connecting the islands of Abu Al Shoum and the capital city, will complete the job this month. The bridge is being built by the Turkish company Nurol.

Low-income housing work to start
Dubai: The Government Housing Department at Dubai Municipality has completed designs of a project to build 10 residential complexes for low-income UAE nationals in Al Qouz and Al Muhaisina and the project will be soon tendered to contracting companies. The project's works will begin in October and are expected to be completed by February 2008.

Palm Gateway Bridge opens
Dubai: A major milestone has been reached in the progress of Dubai's The Palm Jumeirah Island with the opening of the Gateway Bridge for construction traffic. The Gateway Bridge, which has taken two years to construct, connects The Palm Jumeirah to the Sufouh Interchange leading to Sheikh Zayed Road.

Tabreed forms Jordan venture
Amman: Jordan’s Abdali Investment and Development and the UAE's Tabreed Holding have formed a 50/50 partnership to set up a new private share-holding company in Jordan called Jordan District Energy.
Sheikh Baha’a Rafic Hariri has been named the chairman and Tabreed's CEO, Dany Safi, the Vice-chairman of the new company, which will invest JD 80 million ($113 million) to develop district cooling and heating systems for the Abdali project, a new development in Amman.

Conject offers new solution
Dubai: Conject, a leading provider of modern, integrated infrastructure lifecycle management (ILM) solutions, has introduced its innovative Internet-capable conject facility management (FM) solution for the Middle East’s burgeoning construction and real estate sector through its recently opened office in Dubai.
The Conject FM solution helps to cut building management costs by allowing customers to improve the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of their real estate and property management system.

Alumco wins contract
Dubai: Alumco, a specialised aluminium façade contractor, has won a contract to supply 75,500 sq m of aluminum facades to the 63-storey Burj Dubai Lake Hotel. The deal is worth Dh86.4 million ($23.52 million). As per the deal entered into with the contractor Arabtec – Besix JV, Alumco will supply 35,000 sq m of unitised curtain wall, 35,000 sq m of composite panel, and 5,500 sq m of aluminium handrails for the Burj Dubai Lake Hotel.

Dolphin City work to start soon
Abu Dhabi: Construction will start on the $1.7 billion Dolphin City in Abu Dhabi by the end of the year. The preliminary design of the project has been completed. The project will be built on an island near Abu Dhabi city. The project is due for completion within three years, says Sami Mikhail, Middle East director of Peddle Thorp/Morgan Architects.
It will include a senior citizens’ residence, a diving academy, and learning centre, apart from office towers, a 75-storey seven star hotel.

UK firm wins lighting design job
Abu Dhabi: UK designers Speirs and Major Associates have been awarded the contract for the lighting design at Al Raha Beach being developed by Aldar Properties, the Abu Dhabi-based real estate development, management and investment company.
The contract is part of the Dh10 billion ($2.72 billion) infrastructure budget. The total cost of the Al Raha beach development is put at $14.7 billion.
