A BD1 billion ($2.65 billion) project, to be called the Up Town project, received the nod from the Bahrain government last month.
Spearheaded by the Qatari-Saudi company AlThara Investment House, the iconic project is set to come up on a 103,573 sq m plot of land opposite Bahrain Mall.
The project will feature three tower blocks – two 75-storey towers, which at 250 m will be the tallest in Bahrain and one 70-storey tower – alongside 20 residential mini-towers, a shopping mall and five-star hotel.
The Northern Municipal Council has given the developer the approval to build the project, subject to certain considerations.
“Daih is a conservative village and has never seen such a huge project before,” explained council towns and villages development committee chairman and area councillor Sayed Ahmed Al Alawi.
