The UAE has the most number of skyscrapers in the Gulf, followed by Saudi Arabia.

The emirates have a total of 237 high-rise buildings and this will rise to 286 with another 49 skyscrapers coming up over the next three years, a report by Starconcept of Germany said.

As many as 137 skyscrapers are presently located in Abu Dhabi, 124 in Dubai and 32 in Sharjah, it said.

Quoting statistics from a survey, the report said: 'The 10 tallest skyscrapers in the UAE are the Emirates Office Tower (355 m), Burj Al Arab (321 m), Emirates Hotel Tower (309 m), Baynunah Hilton Tower Hotel, Abu Dhabi (165 m), Kendah House (154 m), Tower Number One (150 m), Dubai World Trade Centre (149 m), Al Ali Tower (130 m), Al Attar Tower (130 m) and National Bank of Dubai (125 m)."

'Saudi Arabia is next to the UAE in terms of high-rise buildings. The 298-m-high Kingdom Centre in Riyadh is the tallest building in the Kingdom.

'Qatar has a total of 94 high-rise buildings, Bahrain has 23 high rises with the 27-storey National Bank of Bahrain headquarters being the tallest and Oman has two."

The study took into account a total of 486 skyscrapers, including 55 under construction in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
