The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is to be expanded to eight halls from the present seven. Construction of the 4,000-sq m new hall is expected to be completed in September.
The DWTC complex in the UAE will also have a huge convention centre which will be ready for the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) conference in 2003, a report said.
The previous conference auditorium, the former Congress Centre, has been converted into the Dubai Financial Market.
The first user of the expanded exhibition capacity will be Gitex 2001, which will be held at DWTC from October 14-18. The show is being expanded this year to occupy all eight halls, almost 4,000 sq m more space than the previous Gitex.
