A REGULAR participant at The Big 5 since 2010, Reynaers Aluminium will be promoting its most popular products as well as next-generation series of handles and energy-efficient systems at this year’s show in Dubai.
At The Big 5 this month, the European aluminium systems provider will put the spotlight on the latest PuRity series. “This series of handles combines next-generation material and mechanical properties with the superior Italian design capabilities of designer Leo De Carlo, who previously worked in the studios of Philippe Starck,” says Ali Khalaf, managing director, Reynaers Middle East, the regional office of the Belgium-based manufacturer.
“PuRity gives Reynaers’ systems a unique touch of style that enhances their aesthetic qualities, while making its windows and doors a sheer pleasure to use. The new handles can be used on most openings, including standard windows and doors, such as sliding and lift-and-slide doors,” adds Khalaf.
Elaborating on the line, he says: “PuRity is more than just a great design. It is manufactured from Pura, a new material with extraordinary qualities, and according to the innovative Biov (Bioecologic Ion Overlay) process, which results in a non-toxic variant of stainless steel from which the chrome particles have been removed. Reynaers has obtained the exclusive right internationally to use Pura in its handles.
“The combination of the material and its surface treatment makes the handles non-corrosive, hypoallergenic, anti-bacterial (optional) and 100 per cent recyclable. It is also easy to clean with pure natural resources.”
Khalaf says that Reynaers will also be promoting some of its energy-efficient systems including the CW 60 Solar and BS 100 Solar systems as a clear niche is emerging for this particular segment in the UAE market.
“The CW60 Solar is a building integrated photovoltaic (PV) curtain-wall and roof system that offers an aesthetically pleasing as well as high-tech ‘green energy’ solution. The purpose-designed profiles enhance the installation and maintenance of the PV components and cabling. The new face caps are designed with a minimal height to maximise the absorption of solar energy and minimise the shading on the PV panels,” explains Khalaf.
Reynaers’ BS (Brise Soleil) system – the BS 100 Solar – is designed to provide an aesthetic and efficient shading solution to almost any building. This type of sun blind consists of a series of different PV panels.

Another efficient system that will be showcased among the door and windows ranges is the CS 86-HV (Hidden Vent), a multi-chamber aluminium system that combines aesthetic design, optimal stability and high thermal comfort.
“Also on display will be the ES 50 doors and windows model, a high-performance aluminium system that combines aesthetic design and high energy efficiency with a Uf-value of 2.2 W per sq m K. This system meets the latest thermal insulation requirements and allows the fabrication, production and assembly of windows and doors in a remarkably faster time,” he says.
Commenting on the show, Khalaf says: “The Big 5 has proven to be a networking platform for key stakeholders in the architectural aluminium systems business for Reynaers. A variety of key personnel and representatives – whether from architectural firms, contracting companies, direct consumers like fabricators and even end-users or members across the industrial sectors like the glass or silicone providers – all make it a point to network at
The Big 5.”
According to Reynaers’ area sales manager of the UAE Aws Salih, the show has played a key role in helping the company to establish vital contacts. “Last year, Reynaers was successful in acquiring three major consultants that have specified Reynaers as their preferred vendor for aluminium systems. And it was The Big 5 in Dubai that played a key role in channelling this link between each of the two companies.”
Salih says the UAE market places great emphasis on the use of sustainable and environment-friendly systems and this is backed by the introduction of legal bodies like Estidama that ensure the standards are met. “Reynaers, as a supplier of high-class European standard architectural aluminium systems, aims to comply with stringent documentation in order to measure up to the specifications of the client,” he says. “In fact, clients now specifically request for certain Reynaers systems for its u-value, acoustics or other technical performances.”
Salih indicates that Reynaers’ CW 50 curtain-walling solution in several variants of structural clamped, horizontal lining, structural glazing and roof application, among others, remain among the most specified products in the UAE, which is a project-oriented market.
“Other systems that have created an impact in this region include Eco system for doors and windows (which has recently been changed to ES 50) the CS 77 variant, and – among the sliding systems – the CP 130, which is emerging as a preferred system,” he says.
Turning to the various projects executed by Reynaers, Salih says: “The highlight of the year for the UAE market is the Presidential Palace being constructed in Abu Dhabi. This landmark public sector project employs bespoke solutions from Reynaers including the conventional and bespoke ES 50, the CP 96, the CW 60 and the CW 60-RA, which is also a customised solution. The project management team for this venture is the renowned R W Armstrong and Associates while Ewan Engineering is the lead consultant.”
Among other projects that Reynaers has recently secured in the UAE are the Hind Tower – which accommodates a hospital on three levels with the remaining floors being assigned for residential purposes – and the Al Majaz office tower, which employs the CW 50-SC.
This year, the company has completed work on a number of prestigious projects such as Ghanim Bin Yaroof villa, Majlis at Alawir and a six-villa development.
“Business in the UAE has been stable compared to last year,” says Salih, “as Reynaers has also been successful in acquiring a few key projects in the healthcare sector, namely the Gayathri Hospital utilising the CW 50-SC and CW 50 systems.
“We are certainly hopeful of a revival in the UAE construction market. Reynaers is already working with some of the largest real estate developers like Damac (Akoya) to cater to the ever-increasing demand for high quality aluminium works in their projects,” he adds.
Established in 1965 and headquartered in Duffel (Belgium), Reynaers Aluminium is a leading European provider of innovative and sustainable architectural aluminium solutions including window and door systems, curtain-walling, sliding systems, sun screening, conservatories, skylights, screens and systems to incorporate blinds and ventilation grids. It has offices in more than 30 countries worldwide.
Reynaers’ will be exhibiting at Stand D116 in the Zabeel Hall, at The Big 5.
