THE Middle East region offers outstanding growth potential as a new and buoyant market with $2.87 trillion of projects currently in the planning or construction phase, according to Brett Martin, which will be at The Big 5 once again to draw attention to its market-leading range of high-performance plastic rooflight sheets, glazing materials and architectural rooflight systems.

“Following the success of our inaugural presence in 2012, The Big 5 again provides a perfect platform to establish strong relationships with clients from this region and around the world as well as promote the extent of the Brett Martin range and our experience of working on large-scale Middle Eastern projects,” says Michael Colquhoun, export sales director of Brett Martin Plastic Sheets.

Brett Martin is a multisite manufacturing company specialising in the manufacture of plumbing and drainage systems, plastic rooflighting and glazing materials, architectural rooflight systems and semi-finished substrates for the sign and display industry. The Brett Martin Group includes Brett Martin Plastic Sheets, Brett Martin Daylight Systems and Brett Martin Plumbing and Drainage.

With a reputation for quality and reliability developed over more than 50 years in the industry, Brett Martin’s ongoing investment in the latest manufacturing technology, innovation and product development ensures that its products remain at the forefront of the industry.

By understanding the challenges of producing high-quality, high-volume polycarbonate and GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) rooflight solutions, Brett Martin offers fully approved and certified products that can meet the exact specifications of a wide and varied range of architecturally innovative and prestigious projects across the globe – from airports to stadia, shopping malls to schools, and factories to residential projects.

“Our UK manufacturing facilities are audited to stringent British quality standards BS EN 9001 and the BS EN 14000 environmental standard while many of our product accreditations, including BBA (British Board of Agrement), are well respected in the UAE,” adds Tom Ogilvie, managing director of Brett Martin Daylight Systems.

With export credentials spanning more than 70 countries worldwide, Brett Martin has a team of experienced product specialists, engineers, and sales and service personnel who are dedicated to serving customers  and making projects happen.

The company’s Marlon polycarbonate range of rooflighting and glazing sheets have been used in construction projects from as far afield as Cluj Arena in Romania to the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

“Available in multiwall, corrugated and flat sheet formats, the Marlon range provides the assurance of performance in the most challenging of environments,” says Colquhoun.

Marlon CS profiles are available to match all the main metal profiles in the UAE, especially solar controlling opal, pearlescent and heatguard tints, which offer quality, diffused light transmission. The insulating multiwall structures, dual tints and infrared (IR) heat blocking technology will help specifiers seeking to balance light transmission, solar control and thermal efficiency. Marlon FSX and abrasion-resistant Marlon FS Hard flat sheet polycarbonate (providing impact resistance 200 times greater than glass) are further glazing options that are suitable for the extreme climate conditions experienced in the Middle East.

Daylight innovation

Designed by Brett Martin’s in-house research and development team, the Marlon Clickfix 1040 is a complete architectural polycarbonate panel glazing system consisting of multiwall polycarbonate panels that simply click and fix into place for completely seamless façades, rooflights and canopies. Clickfix offers diffused natural daylight, superior thermal insulation of 0.99 W/sq m K and ultraviolet (UV) protection, plus the inherent resilience of polycarbonate.

“Marlon Clickfix 1040 is a thermally efficient method of introducing natural light into a building and is ideal for the emerging Middle East market as it performs better on value, performance and quality than its competitors,” comments Chris Czyzyk, product manager, Brett Martin Daylight Systems.

The industry innovator continues to evolve its polycarbonate range with the new Marlon CS Diffuser Opal offering advanced solar control and enhanced UV resilience in hotter climates and Marlon ST Blue – an innovative transparent multiwall polycarbonate sheet containing Cool Light Technology which cleverly blocks the heat transmitting near-infrared solar energy whilst allowing light through the sheet.

Further Brett Martin product offerings at The Big 5 include the company’s tried-and-trusted range of Trilite GRP rooflights, which feature extended weathering capabilities and options to satisfy the safety levels, u-values and fire ratings of any project.

Brett Martin claims to be the first company to produce GRP with extended weathering capabilities and has been manufacturing the Trilite brand for more than 50 years, with over 900 BBA certified profiles now available.

Adding to the company’s product offer is its versatile rooflight portfolio consisting of what is claimed to be the most extensive range of precision-engineered rooflights available from a single source, including vaulted and dome rooflights, skylights, panel glazing systems, canopies and composite panel rooflights.

Brett Martin has an impressive record of involvement in the rooflighting of a wide spectrum of building types in the UK, from high-profile stadia such as Wembley Stadium to B&Q warehouses, Asda supermarkets, Christie’s auction rooms, Hugo Boss offices and Olympic training venues such as Surrey Sports Park.

“Together with our complementary ranges of rooflight sheets and systems, visiting specifiers and contractors will be able to see the simplicity of naturally daylighting any sort of application. Our rooflights have been used to great effect in many new-build and refurbishment projects across the Middle East including aircraft hangars in Dubai, a huge sulphur processing plant in Abu Dhabi, and a retail outlet in Cairo,” comments David Biggs, commercial director for Brett Martin Daylight Systems.

With an unparalleled product range, Brett Martin is once again set to impress visitors to its stand (D74) within the UK Pavilion in Hall 2 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
