UK-based manufacturer of concrete batching and mixing plant Steelfields marks its golden jubilee this year with a successful portfolio that includes sales to more than 50 countries worldwide.
As part of its promotional strategy of exhibiting at international construction and civil engineering shows around the globe, the firm will be returning to the Big 5 show armed with a wide range of machines that have already found favour in a number of markets in the region.
With more than 1,700 concrete batching plant operating in more than 50 countries worldwide, Steelfields has extensive experience in the Middle East supplying plant to major producers in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Iran, Iraq and Sudan. Its success in the region is based on its commitment and local knowledge, further strengthened by key UAE partners who provide local fabrication of selected components as well as installation and after-sales support.
“Local conditions are very important. In the UAE for example, regulations governing mix accuracy are particularly stringent specifying that all material have to be weighed to within plus one per cent, and so our company supplies plant with high accuracy load cells as well as moisture meters and computerised management,” says a spokesperson for the company.
Established in 1956 as a family company, Steelfields has grown to become one of UK’s most well-renowned manufacturer, supplier and exporter of concrete batching and mixing plant for high-quality wet, half wet, dry mixes, slurry batch and mortar, concrete mixers, automatic batch control systems, concrete reclaimers and silt-water processing systems.
“We were one of the first companies to pioneer the innovative concept of a modular plant design, with our Major 60 series, which has proved so successful in the Middle East and elsewhere. The first Major 60 was shipped to Saudi Arabia in the early 1970s for use as a commercial concrete plant – which was the start of many orders from the region and we estimate that we have sold over 200 Major 60s plant to the Middle East alone,” adds the spokesperson.
“What makes the Major 60 plant range so successful is its flexibility in production, since it is available in a wide variety of options.
The robust monocoque design has always made installation easy, requiring minimal ground space and preparation. Perhaps, more important is the excellent value when new and its high re-sale value. Like all Steelfields plant, the design offers the latest technical and component features which currently include dual-axis mixer wash systems, precision load cell weighing assemblies, microwave moisture control, touch-screen monitoring systems as well as silo safety systems,” he adds.
The latest Steelfields plant range covers the smaller Major 1000 series, the Major 2000 range (which includes the Major 2000e and Major 2000 Advance), SM 30, Major 60 and SM 60 mobile plant, Major 90, concrete reclaimers and custom-built plant.
The Steelfields Major 2000, a containerised ideal on-site plant for precast, smaller readymix operations and civil engineering contractors, has proved to be another breakthrough for Steelfields. These modules are easily transported on standard trailer units to site where they unfold to become the principle structure forming the batching plant, thus reducing shipping costs and making erection and relocation quicker and still easier. Certified with full Lloyds ISO approval, many Major 2000s are currently operating in Kuwait, Qatar, Sudan and Saudi Arabia as despite its size, it is capable of producing impressive volumes of quality concrete.
Headquartered at an impressive 25,600 sq m site in Kent in southeast England, with more than 100 years of senior management experience in the industry, Steelfields still remains a strong family business, with sales and service facilities to more than 40 countries worldwide.
Plant can be supplied and erected by the company’s trained engineers to any part of the world and trial batch tested before handover. Full on-site training of operators is given with a comprehensive spares and service back up that guarantee efficient reliable production in countries in the Middle East and around the globe.
Steelfields will be exhibiting at Stand 2B61 at the Big 5 show.
