Palm Utilities has awarded a consortium of Degremont and Besix Group a $800 million DBO (design, build, operate) contract for a wastewater treatment and reuse plant in the UAE.
As per the contract signed last month, the consortium will have to design, build and operate the plant for 10 years as part of the Jumeirah Golf Estates real estate development at Dubai.
The contract will also cover the installation and operation of a system to collect sewage and distribute treated water spanning nearly 40 km.
Degremont – a subsidiary of Suez Environment – will have a 54 per cent share of the total value of the contract.
Through this contract, Palm Utilities reaffirms its commitment to provide the safest, most efficient and environmentally friendly systems, says a spokesman for the company.
