The Yamama Granite & Marble Factory, one of the most modern factories of its kind in Saudi Arabia, plans to introduce more products in the market soon.
The factory boasts state-of-the-art technology in this field secured from similar factories in Italy and in the US. The factory, constructed by two international companies, covers two main production units: quarries and processing.
Yamama operates three local quarries for the extraction of 6-9 cu m blocks of various types of granite. Different colours of granite to meet the customers' requirements are available.
The total output of these quarries is 3,900 cu m per year. Part of this production is used for processing in the company's own processing factories and the rest is marketed locally and overseas, says Dr Abdulrahman Al Sulaim, general manager.
The granite blocks extracted from the quarries are brought for processing and for manufacturing a wide range of finished products in the form of large laminated sheets to the factory situated in Muzahmiyah, close to the Yamama Factory for Red Bricks & Clay Products.
With a capacity of 140,000 cu m of Saudi granite per year, the factory is considered to be one of the largest factories worldwide producing best quality granites in terms of water resistance, variety of colours and solidity, he says.
"We also import some granite products which are not produced locally, in order to meet the requirements of the wide base of our customers," he says.
The factory is run by a national management team which focuses on quality and after-sales service. It also endeavours to meet customers' and local and international market requirements, adds Al Sulaim.
