
Gulf Steel, established in 1992, is claimed to be the first of its kind of facility in the Kingdom and offers all sizes of fusion bonded epoxy coated rebars and has the capacity to meet the requirements of the Kingdom and the GCC countries.
The company also manufactures epoxy coated rebar wiremesh; cut and bend of epoxy coated rebars and black steel rebars. It has a production capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year (tpy).
The company's head office is located in Dammam and production facilities in Jubail Industrial City. It has a branch office in Jeddah and a trade office in Kuwait. It has a staff strength of 70 and a turnover SR50 million ($13.5 million). Gulf Steel is participating at Saudi Build exhibition for the first time and plans to promote its products in the country and in the region at the event.
''Compared to last year, this year the business is not much better because of non-availability of government projects,'' says sales and marketing manager Saad M Al Garni.
Gulf Steel puts a lot of emphasis on quality of its products. ''Quality control starts from the early stages of inspection and selection of the coatable rebars at steel mills and goes all the way through to the coating process until the rebars reach the end-users,'' says Garni.
Gulf Steel fulfils all the requirements of international standards and it is approved by Saudi Aramco, Sabic companies, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Saudi Consolidated Electricity Company (Sceco), The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Ministry of Defence and Aviation and Ministry of Communication.
Some of the major completed/ongoing projects the company has been involved with recently include: Ghazlan power plant, Hawiyah infrastructure buildings, laboratory buildings at Riyadh Refinery, United Gulf Steel Mill Company in Jubail, Kemya's expansion project in Jubail, Shuaiba steam power plant, GSM towers in Hail, Sadaf styrene project in Jubail, Khuff gas facilities in Dhahran, Saudi Aramco's R&D Centre in Dhahran, Petrokemya expansion project in Jubail, sea water cooling structures in Jubail, Military City in Dammam and KFIA bridge in Dammam and Umm Al Himan sewage treatment plant in Kuwait.
